Humanities & Hops: Religious Literacy in Healthcare Education

Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 PM | New World Brewery Tampa (810 East Skagway Ave)

Join faculty researchers Tori Lockler, Shaunesse Jacobs Plaisimond, and Garrett Potts for a panel discussion about their Interfaith America-funded initiative exploring religious literacy in healthcare education. Moderated by Michael DeJonge, this conversation will examine how understanding patients' religious and cultural backgrounds can improve healthcare outcomes. Learn about their curriculum development, partnership with Tampa General Hospital, and efforts to train healthcare professionals in cultural competency. Discover how this work addresses religious diversity as a factor in patient care, contributing to more responsive healthcare delivery. The panel will share insights from their research and community partnerships in this emerging field.

Graduate Humanities Symposium

ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ graduate students with a humanities-related project will present in panels in the Marshall Student Center 3rd floor conference wing. Symposium schedule to come soon. This event is free to attend and open to all students, faculty, staff, and the community. Sit in on a panel to listen, learn, ask questions, network, and see what our graduate students are up to.

7th Annual Undergraduate Humanities Conference

The ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Humanities Institute will host its 7th Annual Undergraduate Humanities Conference in the Marshall Student Center on January 29-30, 2026. Open to all ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ undergraduate students, this free 2-day conference is a platform to present midterm or final research projects. Students can present a paper for panel discussion, a creative project, or participate in the poster session. The conference is great experience for graduate school and to prepare for other research conferences. Applications open in October.
