Moez Limayem unanimously selected by ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Board of Trustees as the university’s next president

Moez Limayem currently serves as president of the University of North Florida and was the Lynn Pippenger Dean of the Muma College of Business at ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ for 10 years. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Board of Governors (BOG), which oversees the State University System.

The Tampa Bay community is invited to join students, alumni, faculty and staff for the festivities, which include a kickoff event, parade and the ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ football game on Saturday, Oct. 18, when the Bulls take on the Florida Atlantic Owls at Raymond James Stadium.

Moez Limayem will visit all three ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ campuses on Monday, Oct. 13. Students, faculty, staff and administrators will have the opportunity to participate in forums and learn more about the sole finalist as the ninth president in ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s history.

Limayem served as the Lynn Pippenger Dean of the Muma College of Business at ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ for 10 years prior to becoming UNF’s president in 2022. He has been recognized by Florida Trend as one of the state’s 500 most influential business leaders and received an award from the National Academy of Inventors for his many contributions to innovation and invention.

Student gives the

ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ climbs to its highest position ever in U.S. News rankings

The University of South Florida has reached an all-time high in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the best colleges. ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ is No. 88 overall among all public or private universities in America, up from No. 91 last year. ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ also rose to No. 43 among public universities, up two spots from last year, and inside the top 50 for the seventh year in a row.

Hundreds gathered at the Pam and Les Muma Basketball Center for a celebration welcoming Rob Higgins – the first CEO of ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Athletics. In front of an audience of professional athletes, elected officials and many who worked with Higgins over the years, the alum shared how his time as a ball boy as a child launched a lifelong love for ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ.

Rob Higgins, a former ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Athletics staff member, becomes the first ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ alum to lead the department.ÌýHe has served as executive director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission since 2004, successfully positioning the region as one of the nation’s premier destinations in sports and entertainment.

The center will be dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of the complex relationship between substance abuse and mental health. As part of the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences, the Darryl E. Rouson Center for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Research will lead research aimed at improving treatment outcomes and reducing the broader societal impacts of these conditions.
