David Kilmnick, PhD, an assistant professor of instruction of social work, received an award for "Outstanding Faculty Contribution to LGBTQ Life at ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ" at the ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Lavender Ceremony. MSW students Kristin Dawes and Nicole Guittard were also recognized at the event and received certificates of achievement.
The Lavender Ceremony is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ students at the university to participate in a graduation ceremony that celebrates their community. LGBTQ+ students and allies were acknowledged for their achievements and contributions to ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ.
Kilmnick is a leading national advocate within the LGBTQ+ communities and is the founder and President/CEO of the New York LGBT Network. At ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ, he recently supported the approval and establishment of the ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG): LGBTQ+ Faculty and Staff Association. Kilmnick is the contact with ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Human Resources and serves on the leadership team working with faculty from the Muma College of Business and ľ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Health.
